Jane is a single mother. She is a housewife and lives with her daughter Mary, aged 7. Look at her typical day.
I get up at half past six and I make Mary’s sandwiches. Then I do some housework. Then I wake up my daughter and make our breakfast. I usually read the newspaper while I have breakfast. After having breakfast, we have a shower and get dressed. I put on make up and I take Mary to school at 8 o’clock. We never take the bus because it is too slow. So I drive to school. Then I go to the gym. I go shopping at eleven o’clock and get home at 12 o’clock. I make lunch and after lunch, I wash dishes and clean up the kitchen. Mary has her lunch in the school canteen at midday. She often has a sandwich, or a salad, or fish and chips.
I go to pick up my daughter at half past four. We go shopping and we get home at quarter to six. I cook dinner and help Mary with her homework. After dinner I do more housework or watch TV with my daughter. Every evening, I water the garden. Mary goes to bed at quarter past ten and I read her a story. Then I go to bed at eleven o’clock.
